With Hellboy, Guillermo del Toro want recreated panels artist / creator Mike Mignolas comics and stories brought to vibrant life, setting new standards for adaptations that respect their source material. In Sin City, however, co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller have done more than just recreate the brutal chiaroscuro artwork Millers strong post-modern noir, they capture the essence and aesthetic City Basin (the character as Marv or Hartigan) and brought to life the universe and stunning three-dimensional characters. And, unlike Hellboy, suffering from weak script, confused, Sin City weaves a story that winds Pulp Fiction-esque dark streets and winding alleys of this infernal metropolises such as fever dream. Soon, Sin City offers ballet of bullets and blood blisters, queens and danger at every turn. It is a kinetic masterpiece of pop culture for the new millennium (as the case might be that this is a film that CGI was invented). As Frank Miller fan for over 25 years, I know his work and know that Sin City? Sin City and it will knock your socks off, whether you're a fan or a newcomer to the dark pleasures of his devilish fantasy and brutal style. Above my expectations on all levels, this film ranks as one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had in theater years.Everything work here. From Rodriguezs cinematography and editing, easy direction (say feat when you consider Robert Miller and co-directed by Quentin Tarantino joined the mix as a special guest director), on the spot, to hardware. The script has Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen and Benicio Del Toro plenty of opportunities to chew the scenery? well done, especially Rourke, who despite cup buried under a thick layer of latex horrendous, offers one of the best performances of his career and steals the show as Marv, giant killer with a broken heart. Ladies hold their own as well. Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Brittany Murphy and Jamie King are all great in their roles, especially Dawson as a machine gun-wielding dominatrix / hooker-fairy godmother Gail. And glory of Elijah Wood (proving there is life after hobbits) and Nick Stahl who deliver contrasting performance as despicable villains, ultra-creepy villain Kevin and yellow disgusting respectively.Sin City is elegant, stylish, sexy and sick. Also, violent and funny. Certainly not a film for the whole family, but for those of us who enjoy our movies Rated R, this movie tube headers and as mule.Heres hope Sin City makes mint because their lyrics are 10.000 n empty (Sin City), and This is just some of them. I'm already praying for picture perfect ten sequel.A for this director.
